Programa sobre Historia de los Saberes "PSI" - Program on the History of "PSI" Knowledge

Introduction

This group on the history of psychoanalysis, psychology, and psychiatry, coordinated by Mariano Plotkin, arose from the heart of the Instituto de Desarrollo Económico y Social through the initiative of a group of researchers. Its objective is to discuss and share research on the history of the "psy" world in a broad sense, seeing as this area includes not only ideas specifically related to its disciplines, but also a wide combination of cultural and social practices that are part of the universe defined by psychiatry, psychology, psychoanalysis, and the cognitive sciences.

Currently Alejandra Golcman, Mariano Ruperthuz, Luciano García, Carlos Maffi, Jimena Mantilla, Nicolás Viotti, Mauro Pasqualini and María Eugenia González actively participate in the program.

The group began in 2010, and since then has carried out monthly meetings to discuss its work. In December 2011, it held its first international gathering, titled “La recepción y circulación transnacional de ideas: psicoanálisis en la ´periferia” or "The transnational reception and circulation of ideas: psychoanalysis in the 'periphery." Distinguished researchers, both local and foreign, participated in the meeting, and other, secondary, conferences on related themes to psy culture were held in November 2012.

At this moment, Mariono Plotkin is heading the online, open-access magazine Culturas Psi, whose first and second editions were published in September 2012 and September 2013 respectively. There is an open call for articles and reviews for the upcoming edition.
